Christmas in Madrid

Thinking what to do in December? A cold month, but full of Christmas spirit and flavor, although this year will be a little different since many plans to spend Christmas at home and with the family have had to pause. But, cheer up!, because in Madrid, there is always something to do and especially in this month.

Churros with chocolate 

Who doesn’t want some churros with chocolate? Especially on the coldest days. In Madrid, there are hundreds of churrerías, but we recommend San Ginés, the emblematic chocolate shop that is more than 130 years old. You can find it in the first place near Puerta del Sol and also in the Prosperidad neighborhood.

nougat and marzipan

The classic Christmas desserts are nougat and marzipan. If you are in the Center, be sure to visit La Mallorquina, where you will find these desserts in all their varieties.

Roscon de Reyes

It is a very nice tradition to share with your friends or family. Inside the roscón there are hidden a bean and a figurine of one of the Magi. The idea is to share this dessert and discover who gets the king and who gets the bean. The first will have a prosperous year and the second… will have to pay the roscón for the following year.

In your weekend walks, you can take advantage and make a route through the most beautiful Nativity scenes in the city. The most iconic are those of the Town Hall, the Plaza de la Villa, the Real Casa de Correos… and there are many more!
